Marcello invited you to “Come Play at Zion’s and Southern Utah over the 24th” on Thursday, July 23 at 5:00pm.

Event: Come Play at Zion’s and Southern Utah over the 24th What: Group Trip Host: Anna, Dan, Baily, Marcello, Nate Child, Mark Wangsgaard Start Time: Thursday, July 23 at 5:00pm End Time: Sunday, July 26 at 8:00pm

Let us know if you would like to come and if you are willing to drive!

To see more details on *FACEBOOK* and RSVP, follow the link below:

* http://www.facebook.com/n/?event.php&eid=124937738447&mid=c812b1G22987318G2e8b9d3G7 *

We know it’s last minute, but we got a private property camp spot near Zion’s national park and for those without plans yet for the 24th, come join us. Here are our plans:

Thursday 5pm or later – Meet at Camp Spot (see directions below)

Friday – Play at the Kolob reservoir, mountain biking, rappelling (200 ft. cliff), caving (big, deep caves), rock climbing, petrified sand dunes.

Saturday – Go into Zion and hike either the Angel’s Landing, the Narrows, Emerald Pools, or part of the slot canyons at Pine Creek. Dinner in Hurricane.

Sunday – Shower at Bumbleberry Inn, go to church in Springdale at 10:50 am and then head home.

Things we need (let us know what you can bring): * Firewood – EVERYONE needs to pitch in. It burns quickly * Generator * Tents * Play stuff for Kolob Reservoir (canoes, fishing, etc) * Ropes and rappelling equipment * Headlamps for caving * $10-20 cash to help pitch in for Zion’s permits and for a hotel room we can all use to shower for church. * National Park permits * Fireworks (it’s private property, nobody is around) * Mountain Bikes * 4-wheelers

Everyone will be responsible for their own food, but bring a little snack to share for a community pile as well. We have a stream next to the camp, but unless you have a good water filter, bring your own water as well. We are in the wild, no bathrooms.

Things you should bring: * Toiletries (including toilet paper and sanitizer) * Swim suit * Food and water * Hiking clothes (something you can get wet in if you are hiking the Narrows with us) * Sandals

Directions to campsite:

From Cedar City, go south on I-15 to the Toquerville exit. Take exit and go left. Pass thru Toquerville and come to a stop light at LaVerkin. This is hwy 9 and the Chevron on the corner is the nearest restroom to the camp. Turn left on hwy 9 (you will see signs that say South Entrance to Zion NP). The first town you come to is Virgin. Turn left on Kolob Rd (you will see one of the brown recreation signs on your right saying that Kolob Reservoir is to the left – this is Kolob Rd). Go 1.8 miles and look for a real estate sign. Just past that sign (about 30 feet) is the turn off to the right, but you CANNOT see the dirt road until you’re actually pulling off the road. Follow the dirt road for about 200 yards and camp!

ADDITIONAL NOTES: * Tauni Poppleton driving – room for 3 Thursday at 5pm * Megan Breinholt driving * Kristie Perkins may drive (checking) * Veronica Diaz – ?Driving, ?4-wheelers * Dee Colling driving from SLC – room for 3

Moab, Utah Colorado River and hikes, 2009

July 21, 2009 in LDS Singles Events

I have met a friend who takes groups down the mighty Colorado River and does hikes in Moab.  He is willing to do it at a very reasonable price.  $50.00 a day, which includes: 6 meals, all equipment use and guide fees.

Th:  leave for Moab.  Spend the night Fri: Hiking to petroglyphs, dinosaur tracks,         slot canyon, waterfalls with swimming/wading pools, arches Other landmarks he can take us to: dead horse where mission impossible was filmed. doublee o arch from indiana jones lunch where larger than life was filmed. He will take anyone rapelling that wants to go and  there is a place we can do a 120 ft. free fall.

Sat.:  White water rafting.  Done by 5pm home by 9-10pm.

He has done this many many times for church groups, but just became single and I thought it would be a fun way for him to meet some singles.

His schedule is open for the rest of the summer for Th – Sat. trips.

I told him I would help organize groups for him, so do you think this is something that you would be willing to put out on your e-mail list. Those who would like to take families, his age limit is 8 and up, and can accomodate 23-24 people at a time.

If anyone would like to organize a family group to go, or just want to go with singles, I will be the contact person.  They can e-mail me at anjill@comcast.net LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED

Are you interested in going with a group of singles to Jackson Hole on August 27 to September 1?  You don’t have to stay the entire time, but a 3-night minimum is requested.  The condo is $50 per person per night or less, depending on how many people go.  A deposit of $150 will reserve your place with full condo payment due by July 24.  We stayed in this same condo unit last year and it is very nice.  5 bedrooms, 4 bath. Here is the website if you want to look: http://jhrl.com/property.detail.asp?propertyCode=tvcondo5-4 (Snow Ridge 4).

Things to do in Jackson:  river rafting ($60-$65); swimming, tennis, and hot tub included with the condo, Bar J Wranglers dinner and show ($20-$30); tram ride ($18); hiking, fishing, etc. in Grand Teton National Park ($20 per car for 7-day pass), Alpine slide ($15 for single ride or 5 rides for $65); golfing; bicycle rental and trail; ATV rental ($125-$145 per day), horseback riding, paragliding, and more.
