AT&T’s Anti Texting While Driving PSA Will Make You Cry (The One): “

In March 2010, AT&T launched a campaign called ‘Texting Can Wait‘, aimed at educating the public about how dangerous it is to text while you’re driving.

As part of that campaign, they released a short film cum PSA called ‘The Last Text’ earlier this month that documents the stories of individuals whose lives have been forever changed because of texting behind the wheel.

It’s heartbreaking to see the way that something as simple as a text asking ‘where r u?’ has destroyed these people’s lives, but it’s also an important reminder that this technology we love so much can impact something beyond your running commentary on your high score in Angry Birds.

Single Man Makes Informercial Hawking… Himself? [VIDEO]: “

We already know that Craigslist is full of creepers, and dating sites aren’t really for everyone — so what to do when you’re lookin’ for a lady and channels both RL and virtual are skint? Make an online informercial, of course.

Meet Tim Goggin, a.k.a. TimWOW, a 32-year-old San Diego-based comedian and entrepreneur who, after getting fed up with the chicks on sites like eHarmony and Match.com, created a website and accompanying commercial hawking…well…himself.

And, apparently, the shtick is working out for Goggin — his Snuggie-esque commercial has been viewed more than 100,000 times since it went up on YouTube on August 2, and he’s already gone on around 12 dates so far, according to relationship advice blog WTF Is Up With My Love Life?.

Although Goggin’s vid is a little in the realm of those creepy dating reels from the ’80s, he’s part of a recent trend of extreme techno-romantics (to steal a term from the aforementioned blog, WTF?). See: Folks like Dating Brian looking for romance on the web, and quirky apps like Boink and customizable dating sites like Tastebuds popping up everywhere.

Still, the question becomes at this point, when our love lives are turning more into spectacle than sentiment: Are folks like Goggin looking for love, or publicity? What do you think?
